This week, we explore 20th-century American music under the Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations. Alongside celebrated figures such as Copland, Gershwin, and Schoenberg, we will weave in beautiful and intriguing music from Peter Menin, Augustus Hailstork, Joan Tower, Charlie Parker, and yes, Fats Domino. We conclude with an elegiac symphonic work by George Walker, the first African American Pulitzer Prize-winning composer.
